My approach
I’m interested in how our past experiences shape the way we relate ourselves and connect with others. My approach brings together warmth and curiosity with a focus on the deeper patterns that lie beneath what’s happening right now.
I see therapy as a space for reflection, honesty, and sometimes challenge - a place to make sense of your story and move towards feeling more connected and grounded in your own life.
My work is relational and integrative. This means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including humanistic and psychodynamic theories. Essentially, I ensure that our work is shaped around you and your particular needs.
My background
Before turning to therapy, I worked in the charity and social purpose sector. I spent years listening to peoples’ stories - interviewing social entrepreneurs, writing for charities, learning about communities - distilling experiences and ideas into words that could be understood. I also saw first-hand how impactful community, connection and meaning can be.
My transition into psychotherapy seemed clear. I wanted to understand what sat beneath the narratives people tell. I wanted to see how the complexities of our experiences, if listened to carefully, could be translated into something that made sense. I was (and still am) convinced that human connection has the power to heal.
My experience
My experience in the field of psychotherapy has spanned a range of mental health settings. I have worked as a health and wellbeing coach within the NHS, provided low-cost therapy for the local community in Hackney, delivered trauma-informed therapy for people living with HIV, and volunteered in a charity for people with suicidal thoughts.
As well as my private practice, I am currently doing additional training in the NHS in cognitive analytic therapy (CAT), supporting people who have complex mental health needs.
I work with an awareness of the wider social, cultural and historical contexts that shape people’s lives. I’m committed to anti-oppressive practice, and work with people from all walks of life, whatever their age, race, ethnicity, cultural heritage, socioeconomic background, gender identity or sexuality.
I am a qualified integrative psychotherapist and a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of East London, graduating with distinction.
